Delivering growth for the principal trade body representing the civil engineering sector in Scotland

CECA Scotland

CECA Scotland is the representative body for civil engineering contractors in Scotland, with a mission to shape the future of the country’s civil engineering sector- championing its economic, environmental, and societal contribution.

The requirement

CECA Scotland required a strategic, insight-driven marketing strategy to inspire future talent, elevate member visibility, and reposition civil engineering as a dynamic and rewarding career. The initiative needed to engage both industry members and the wider public across a sustained 12-month campaign programme.

Our approach

Before any creative work began, our team focused on securing genuine industry buy-in. Through online member engagement sessions, one-to-one consultations with industry leaders, and a social media launch, supported by a campaign video, we built alignment and ownership across the sector.

We then developed a year-long programme of strategic campaigns under the banner Engineering Scotland’s Future, combining high-impact storytelling with always-on communications. The first campaign, Make a Lasting Difference, used video-led content to tell the human stories behind Scotland’s infrastructure. The second, Inside the Job, went behind the scenes of civil engineering contracting through myth-busting graphics, TikTok-ready shorts, and video interviews-  delivering an honest, authentic view of life in the industry.

Since launch, the initiative generated 112,936 impressions (+81%), 2,707 reactions (+38%), and 431 new followers (+35%) on LinkedIn in the first four months.

In 2025, CECA Scotland set out with a bold ambition: to shape the future of Scotland’s civil engineering sector.

In collaboration with strategic marketing consultants from Genoa Black, we developed a strategic, insight-driven marketing strategy under the banner “Engineering Scotland’s Future”- designed to inspire future talent, elevate member visibility, and champion the industry’s vital contribution to Scotland’s economy, infrastructure, and sustainability."
