Strategic clarity to scale impact and align a mission‑driven organisation

My Name'5 Doddie

In just a few years, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation (MNDF) has achieved what many charities take decades to build – a powerful movement that has united communities, funded progress and reshaped a national conversation.

It has become one of Scotland’s most trusted and recognisable charities and is making an impact accelerating MND research.

Having achieved significant success as a start-up charity, MNDF engaged us to support the development of a business plan to guide its next phase of growth, where its target was scaling its success.

Requirement

The objective was to create a clear, mission aligned plan that would define the organisation’s scale up and align its various stakeholders on a set of priorities.

Approach

We delivered this through a structured three-stage approach:

  1. Health Check
We assessed MNDF’s current position through a workshop with the senior leadership team and 1-1 interviews with board members, to establish a clear baseline to plan from.
  2. Growth Planning
We then worked with the leadership team to define MNDF’s scale up, through workshopping strategic priorities and objectives for the next five years.
  3. Business Plan and Financial Model
We then developed a 5-year business plan and supporting financial model, translating the defined ambition into a clear roadmap for growth.

“We’ve grown from a small start up led by Doddie into one of Scotland’s most recognisable and trusted voices in the fight against MND – raising awareness, fundraising millions, accelerating research and giving families hope.

Working with Genoa Black gave us real clarity on where we are going next. The process provided us with a clear plan for ensuring the foundation we’ve built can not only sustain itssuccess but scale it across the next five years and move us closer to our vision: a world free of MND.”
